About me and my practice

I am a BACP registered Integrative-Relational Counsellor. In essence, this means that my way of working is based on a broad theoretical framework allowing us to explore your difficulties from different perspectives – through a lens that speaks to you. This theoretical standpoint forms the bedrock of my practice.

However, it is my belief that the most profound change and healing come about through human connection and relationship; building a relationship of trust will be at the heart of our work together.

I have a first class BA(Hons) degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling from Middlesex University.

In my practice, I'm deeply passionate about understanding how our early relationships shape who we become as adults. I'm particularly drawn to attachment theory, which explores the profound impact of our childhood experiences on our adult selves. Simply put, our early relationships serve as the foundation for how we relate to others later in life. Whether we formed secure bonds or faced challenges during our formative years can significantly influence our patterns of connection, communication, and emotional well-being. Exploring these connections allows us to work together in unraveling the threads of the past to create a more fulfilling and balanced present. I'm here to guide you on this journey of self-discovery and growth.

I am a Registered member of the BACP and I abide by their code of ethics. I am committed to enriching my practice through regular, and relevant, continuing professional development.

I have experience of working within the NHS and in private practice.

How Therapy works

The therapeutic relationship is like no other; all feelings are welcomed and accepted, without judgement, giving you the freedom to explore the parts of yourself that may often go unseen. Having these parts witnessed and accepted by another person who is compassionate and empathic, can be powerfully restorative.

I will be interested in understanding your own unique experience of the issues that have brought you to counselling. From here, we can explore your current situation within the context of your present environment but also with consideration of your past. Understanding and appreciating the legacy of our formative relationships, and the world in which we grew-up, brings fresh perspective to our adult lives; often, it seems, a new wealth of opportunity becomes available, and a greater sense of vitality is achieved.

  • “You picked up on things that will forever change the way I see myself and think about things. Thank you for helping me get better when I was at my lowest. But, most importantly, thank you for seeing me for who I really am, even when I couldn’t see it or was doubting myself. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.”

Message of gratitude, and a client’s personal reflection on their therapeutic journey

  • “When we first met, I was not in a good place. But with your help I’ve come so far. For that, I’ll be forever grateful and I will never be able to fully express my gratitude. But… THANK YOU!”
